This is Julie's recipe and it is SO SO good! I refuse to make ice cream with eggs in them (as many recipe's call for) -- this one has no eggs. It is packed with flavor!
3/4 cup lemon juice
4 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 to 2 quarts half & half
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
3/4 tsp salt
4 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 to 2 quarts half & half
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 TB vanilla
4 cups berries (2 pounds)
4 cups berries (2 pounds)
*You can add a drop or two of red food coloring (you can see the color of the ice cream is dull in this picture, that's why I got the idea for the coloring)
Chop berries in a blender to desired consistency—they will stay that consistency until you eat it. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl with berries at the end. Pour into ice cream maker. Layer rock salt and ice horizontally around the bowl, ending with the rock salt on top. It will take 30-45 minutes for a good consistency.
